Mariazeller Advent
Dear Sirs and Madames,
Originally, the decision to hold a shortened Advent in Mariazell should have been made on November 16, 2020 after the federal government’s first evaluation of the current measures.
Due to the currently rapidly increasing number of infections, timely relaxation is no longer to be expected and holding the Advent market – despite the prevention concept – would not be feasible or simply irresponsible.
The organizer and the shareholders of Mariazeller Land GmbH with the municipality of Mariazell, the Mariazeller Land Tourist Association and the Mitterbach municipality agree that the highest and most important good is the health of all participants, guests and of course the Mariazellerinnen and Mariazeller.
That is why it was unanimously decided on Saturday, November 7th, 2020 not to carry out the Mariazeller Advent with the Advent market in its original form.
What remains, however, is the unique Advent atmosphere in the face of the Mariazell basilica, without the hustle and bustle, but with a contemplative focus for the whole family – an Advent like back then.
I would like to thank everyone involved for the intensive preparatory work and the efforts that have been made to ensure a positive implementation.
Andreas Schweiger, GF Mariazeller Land GmbH
